This Election Is Being Taken Way Too Seriously By Some
Michigan Republicans going after Michael Moore
WOOD-TV 8 Grand Rapids
"The Michigan Republican Party is asking four county prosecutors to file charges against filmmaker Michael Moore, charging that he illegally offered underwear, noodles and snacks to college students in exchange for their promise to vote. 'We want everyone to participate in this year's election, but not because they were bribed or coerced by the likes of Michael Moore,' said Greg McNeilly, executive director of the state Republican Party. The GOP said it asked prosecutors in Wayne, Ingham, Antrim and Isabella counties to charge Moore with violating Michigan's election law. The law prohibits a person from contracting with another for something of value in exchange for agreeing to vote... The GOP said Moore also offered students a clean dorm room, a year's supply of Tostitos and a package of Ramen noodles."
My personal comment - If Michael Moore was serious about all this he would have offered the students beer.

He got a million new voters to register in Michigan. He's buying votes with underwear. I don't think that's "taking it too seriously".
I don't know what's worse: The fact that Moore will stoop to whatever level he has to in order to unseat his president, or the fact that millions of young American voters can be bought with a 3-pack of fruit-of-the-looms and some noodles.

Not true. He tells them to vote Kerry. Flat out.

I hope they can make a case against him. He's one of the worlds biggest hypocrites, and unfortunately people actually buy into what he says. How much money from Farenheit 9/11 do you think he's actually donated to the families of the victims?

'Fahrenheit' may be boon for charities
Newspaper report says 60 percent of the profits from Michael Moore's hit film will go to charities.
July 2, 2004: 7:10 AM EDT
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Charities could be among the biggest winners from the box-office success of the anti-Bush documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11," according to a published report.
The Wall Street Journal reported that about 60 percent of the net profit ultimately generated by the film could go to charities yet to be identified by Walt Disney Co. (DIS: Research, Estimates)
The movie by liberal filmmaker Michael Moore had been financed by Disney unit Miramax, but the media conglomerate declined to release the picture, which is critical of the Bush administration and its efforts against terrorism, saying it did not want to take such a partisan position during an election year. So Disney sold the distribution rights back to Miramax's chiefs, brothers Harvey and Bob Weinstein.
The Journal reported that under terms of the agreement to sell the film rights, the Weinsteins could get roughly the same 40 percent of the profits that they would have received if it had stayed with Miramax. The other 60 percent will go to Disney, and the conglomerate stated earlier that it would donate any profits it sees to charities.
The film has been a box-office success, setting a record for the best U.S. ticket sales by a documentary in its first weekend in theaters. It is also the first documentary to be the top movie at U.S. theaters as it took in $21.8 in its first three days.
The Journal estimates that the film will eventually produce tens of millions of dollars of profits for charities. Disney told the paper that no charities had yet been identified for donations.

RockStar, I did not see anything in that story where Michael Moore told them to vote for Kerry - Can you provide proof that he told them to flat out vote for Kerry? Or do you just know it to be true because Michael Moore was involved?
Enquiring minds want to know.

I did already, about 10 posts up. This is from Michael Moore's website (which, by the way is based in Canada, not the United States where he lives and continually claims he loves):
"Each night on our 60-city "Slacker Uprising Tour" through the 20 battleground states, I've been registering hundreds (and on some nights, thousands) of voters at my arena and stadium events. I then ask for everyone over 23 who has never voted (or didn't vote in the last election) to stand up. I tell these slackers that I understand and respect why they think politicians are not worth the bother. I tell them that I may have been the original slacker, and that I do not want them to change their slacker ways. Keep sleeping 'til noon! Keep drinking beer! Stay on the sofa and watch as much TV as possible! But, please, just for me, on 11/2, I want you to leave the house and give voting a try -- just this once. The stakes this time are just too high.
If they promise me that they'll do this, I give the guys a 3-pack of new Fruit of the Loom underwear, and the women get a day's supply of Ramen noodles, the sustenance of slackers everywhere.
I then close by having them repeat the 2004 Slacker Oath: "Pick nose! Pick butt! Pick Kerry."

RocKStar, I thought you thought everything that Michael Moore says is a lie and now you are actually believing him?
O.K., you believe this "Pick nose! Pick butt! Pick Kerry."
I didn't see where Michael Moore actually said vote for Kerry.
You can pick your nose, you can pick your butt, and you can pick Kerry apart on his record, but any mediocre lawyer will point out the same thing - Michael moore did not cross the line by telling the kids to vote for Kerry - he stayed just inside the legal line by telling the kids to "Pick nose! Pick butt! Pick Kerry."
And since when do you also believe everything you read on a liberal site on the internet?
Enquiring minds want to know.
