PRESS RELEASE

--------------------------------------------------------------------
LaRouche: `The Number One Issue in the Presidential Debates Is George W. Bush's Mental Illness'

Sept. 27, 2004 (EIRNS)—With just two days to go before the first of three Presidential debates between President George W. Bush and Sen. John Kerry, Lyndon LaRouche, the former candidate for the 2004 Democratic Party Presidential nomination, issued the following statement today through the LaRouche Political Action Committee.

The as-yet unspoken, but pivotal issue to be taken up in the upcoming Presidential campaign debates between George W. Bush and John Kerry is the mental illnesses from which President Bush suffers. The most concise and frank, yet compassionate account of George W. Bush's multiple mental disorders can be found in the 2004 book-length study by Dr. Justin Frank, Bush on the Couch: Inside the Mind of the President (New York: HarperCollins, 2004). Dr. Frank is a leading psychoanalyst who teaches at George Washington University Medical Center. His professional credentials are impressive, and his in-depth study of the President, based on massive amounts of public documentation—autobiographical and biographical accounts, countless hours of video footage of the President, statements by close associates and relatives, spanning nearly the entirety of George W. Bush's lifetime—presents a compelling case that Mr. Bush is in need of medical assistance.

As Dr. Frank summarized the case in his opening chapter, "If one of my patients frequently said one thing and did another, I would want to know why. If I found that he often used words that hid their true meaning and affected a persona that obscured the nature of his actions, I would grow more concerned. If he presented an inflexible worldview characterized by an oversimplified distinction between right and wrong, good and evil, allies and enemies, I would question his ability to grasp reality. And if his actions revealed an unacknowledged—even sadistic—indifference to human suffering, wrapped in pious claims of compassion, I would worry about the safety of the people whose lives he touched. For the past three years, I have observed with increasing alarm the inconsistencies and denials of such an individual. But he is not one of my patients. He is our President."

In his 219-page clinical diagnosis of the President's mental condition, Dr. Frank concluded that Mr. Bush suffers from a range of serious, albeit curable conditions. These include: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); untreated and uncured alcoholism (what is frequently referred to in lay terms as "dry drunk"); an omnipotence complex; paranoia; an Oedipal Complex; sadism; a mild form of Tourette's Syndrome; and a diminished capacity to distinguish between reality and fantasy.

These diagnosed mental disorders cannot be swept under the rug. The future of the United States and the world is going to be determined by the outcome of the Nov. 2, 2004 U.S. Presidential elections. I urge all Americans to read Dr. Frank's alarming findings. I also call on those responsible for the upcoming Presidential debates, including the candidates themselves, to accept the fact that no serious policy dialogue can take place, until this issue has been addressed, squarely and publicly. The American people have the right to know that the incumbent President, seeking re-election, is plagued by a number of debilitating mental disorders that have already impacted, gravely, on American national security, and have severely damaged some of our most important international partnerships.

In their wisdom, the Members of the U.S. Congress proposed and ratified the Twenty-Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which established the procedures for the President to be removed from office if it is determined that "he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office." In the case of the current President, George W. Bush, we have the advantage of a Presidential election, just weeks away. It would be a grave crime of omission to cover over this admittedly sensitive Constitutional issue, and leave the matter in the hands of a Vice President Dick Cheney, were there to be a Bush-Cheney re-election and a subsequent, inevitable mental breakdown crisis.

Scoreboard Dr Frank!

I don't think Bush can recover from this one if it gets into the mainstream news...

Re: Is This For Real Or Is This Faked?

Sounds like it is Dr Frank that is in need of commital - someone do it before more people actually believe his absolute drivel.

what an absolute waste of an intellect - another pawn in the academic world of stuff-ups and misfits. I've been around learned people most of my life and can tell you the best of them have their feet on the ground and an integrity that cannot be bought or sold - and of the most learned people I could say that of I could count on the fingers of one hand...

What is it that brainwashes people into thinking a person with Dr before their name means they are right?

They're wrong just as often as you and me, subject to the same bias's, controlled by their own emotions and agendas. They want respect?

They need to earn it just like you and me

I am more wary of them than I am of Joe average who at least for the most part is simple enough to just give you a straight answer.

Hope DR Franks book leads to his public disgrace - that is about the worst thing that can happen to someone who worships their own intellect. Bye Frank you are an idiot.

The world and the nation are controlled by many complex forces and issues and people sit back and presume to have even the slightest idea of what a President goes through and faces each day - the data put in front of him, the advice given, the explanations, and who it is that decides what he will hear, see, who he will meet.....

if we sat in his chair for 24 hours we would all grow some more respect for the position.

For President Bush to exercise the leadership he has in the light of conflicting forces pulling at him from every direction speaks volumes for the man. The President of the USA can hardly fart without it being planned in his appointment diary for him. His whole day every day is planned for him. His input into that is smaller than many suppose. It comes with the job.... e.g.

It took a close personal friend of President Ford 2 years just to get a 30 second meeting with him - and then it was only catching him as he walked from White House to his waiting chopper..... and that was the President of GM.

President Bush might not always get it right - but a man who can make a clear decision and stick with it, and has integrity, will be right more than they are wrong - and that is the type of leader we have here. At least he stands for something people can understand if not agree with.

By contrast I don't see Kerry capable of standing in any one place long enough to get a position on him. Maybe Dr Frank could analyse that - sounds even more like a serious mental illness to me.

* First president to run and hide when the US came under attack (and then lied saying the enemy had the code to Air Force 1)
* First US president to establish a secret shadow government.
* Took the biggest world sympathy for the US after 911, and in less than a year made the US the most resented country in the world (possibly the biggest diplomatic failure in US and world history).
* With a policy of 'dis-engagement' created the most hostile Israeli-Palestine relations in at least 30 years.
* First US president in history to have a majority of the people of Europe (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and stability.
* First US president in history to have the people of South Korea more threatened by the US than their immediate neighbor, North Korea.
* Changed US policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts.
* Set all-time record for number of administration appointees who violated US law by not selling huge investments in corporations bidding for government contracts.
* Failed to fulfill my pledge to get Osama Bin Laden 'dead or alive'.
* Failed to capture the anthrax killer who tried to murder the leaders of our country at the United States Capital building. After 18 months I have no leads and zero suspects.
* In the 18 months following the 911 attacks I have successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States.
* Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in US history.
* In a little over two years created the most divided country in decades, possibly the most divided the US has ever been since the civil war.
* Entered office with the strongest economy in US history and in less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight down.
* But at least he is not Kerry.

So Much For "Social Responsibility"
It wasn't okay when their side did it, and it's not okay for our side to do it.
"Bush on the Couch," authored by a longtime Washington psychiatrist who has never met or treated the president, offers "an exploration of Bush's psyche" that delves into such touchy topics as his baby sister's death, his relationship with his mother and father and his drinking history.

In the book, to be released Tuesday, Justin A. Frank, a clinical professor at George Washington University Medical Center, claims President Bush exhibits "sadistic tendencies" and suffers from "character pathology," including "grandiosity" and "megalomania" -- viewing himself, America and God as interchangeable. Frank told us yesterday that his opinions are based on publicly available materials, adding, "I've never met the president or any members of his family." This kind of garbage is forbidden by the ethics code of my own profession. It took about ten minutes with Google to determine that it also violates the ethical code of psychiatrists:
On occasion psychiatrists are asked for an opinion about an individual who is in the light of public attention or who has disclosed information about himself/herself through public media. In such circumstances, a psychiatrist may share with the public his or her expertise about psychiatric issues in general. However, it is unethical for a psychiatrist to offer a professional opinion unless he or she has conducted an examination and has been granted proper authorization for such a statement.
You don't diagnose a patient you haven't examined. You don't discuss your diagnoses without the patient's permission. And if your only defense against the latter rule is that the person you've publicly diagnosed isn't really your patient, that alone ought to let you know that you've strayed far from the requirements of professional ethics. A psychiatric diagnosis is a clinical tool, not a rhetorical device; to treat it otherwise substantially undermines the reputation of psychiatry and psychology. Frank is a former leader of the Physicians for Social Responsibility, but there is simply nothing socially responsible about using psychiatric terminology as a stick with which to beat your political enemies. There's nothing socially responsible about misusing the mantle of the professional expert. I am appalled.

Kenny, I challenge you to back up your cut-n-paste claims.

I don't have the time to refute every one of them, but suffice it to say I will bury you in a debate if you want to discuss the large majority of those points.

One glaring point that I will make comment on right away is that George Bush "Rendered the entire United Nations irrelevant." I would argue that you should omit that point because it actually belongs on that list.

As Rockstar mentions, some of these are indeed accomplishments. Other ones seem totally farcical, e.g., "First president in US history to have all 50 states of the Union simultaneously go bankrupt." I seriously doubt it.

I think the United Nations actually rendered themselves as being irrelevant long before Bush. Either one of 'em.

Some of the other points seem dated, but they can be used to find foreign operatives trying to sabotage the free election process in the United States of America because they can not keep their mouths silent (or keyboards silent in some cases).

And RockStar, since you choose to live in a country that miserably failed to join the Coalition to remove Saddam from power and are also probably not a citizen of the United States of America and have absolutely no right to vote here, maybe you should be practicing some international ettiqutte and kindly butt out of our election process. Or maybe George W. might make good his promise of getting rid of all the terrorist supporting countries and if your country did not join the coalition in The War Against Terror - and it did not, then Canada, along with cowardly countries like France and Germany, must be targets for the next round of countries George W. Bush will be invading and establishing a government more friendly to the United States of America. At least then you will live in a country where there are two languages as the national language and can continue speaking English, but you had better not speak French.

But it's time for you to learn to speak Spanish.
