On Day five of a ten day fast/detox regimen. figured time for a change; ive been lazy and getting worse for a few yrs now. went from 245 at 6-8% body fat to 225 at 10-12% and breathing hard to walk to the damn fridge. so, deciding to go back to getting in good health (figured might as well practice what i preach) with a personal goal of 230 at 6-8% BF (245 was too difficult to maintain DRUGFREE and ive no desire to do so as i dont compete anymore). also started exercise program; cardio training and weight resistance daily twice a day four days on one day off routine. its about time i do for myself what i do for clients, athletes, and patients every damn day.
now, why did i post this useless drivel for you ladies to read when in all honesty who gives a fuck; im bored outta my ass and have more fucking free time than ever since im no longer eating copious amounts of wings, beers, pizzas and tequila. amazing how much free time ive got now, damn if eating wasnt a fulltime job
thats good idea on the one day a week fast. if youve never done a seven or ten day, be careful, go slowly. i suggest to most patients gradual decrease of foods to none and then a gradual increase therefore it gives a nice trnsitional period into and out of the fast. always make sure water consumption is high no matter what. fasting without water intake is plain stupid, either you just dont know what youre doing or youre a religious zealot.
good on you MOJO - not many can handle a 10 dayer! cudos to you
My wife went on the Beverly Hills diet for 30 days - where you only eat fruit, and only specific types as prescribed for that day - which changes daily. It really worked.
I've gone almost 4 days on no food at all, just water and felt great. I think 10 would be tough unless there was some nutrional drinks to feed the body - how can you keep working out unless you are feeding the muscles that are being worked?
As a vegan for almost 15 years I can tell you you don't put on weight on that diet (unless you get into the processed sugars), but a balance is a happier place to be. Since I stopped being Vegan I went from a lean cut 154lb (small frame) to 200lb. I like the bigger muscles, but fact was at the lighter weight I was much faster over a distance and could lift almost as much, so not sure of the value of having extra muscle (other than looks plus the fact you can throw more hip into the punching bag). But I think the key is being happy and being able to do the things you like to do
Interesting thread. Started out in April at 247 (6'0") and weighed in this morning at 203. Targeting 185. Hitting the gym 5-6 times a week after a five year lapse. 3-4 days of cardio at 30 minutes each and 2 days of heavy weights (lower body one day, upper the next). Trying to keep my caloric intake around 1500 or so - from a previous guesstimate of 3-4K a day (food addict, thank you very much).
What I find interesting is that I am today at the same weight I was when I got married (gulp) 18 years ago. Yet I was pretty skinny back then without a lot of muscle mass and obviously wasn't any taller or shorter. No question my body fat percentage is still up there, even without a good measurement (scale says 27%). The couple times I have tried not eating even for a day leaves me light-headed just sitting at a desk. Thankfully my appetite has dropped considerably and I get full a lot easier. Now if I could keep my damn hair from falling out...
