Well, my buddy picks up a Ford GT from the factory and heads down to my house with it. I pull my '96 Viper GTS out and take a bunch of pictures with the two side-by-side. The Ford GT is dark blue with white stripes. Not my favorite color for the car as I like the red/white stripes or yellow/black stripes, but what the hell it's a Ford GT. I just read where the Ford GT is the 3rd fastest production car on the planet right now behind the Ferrari Enzo and the new Porsche Carrera GT.
I figure the only other time I'll have a Ford GT in my driveway is if I scrap up enough money to buy a used one in a few years that one of you guys thrashed. So my buddy drives me through rush hour traffic to work in it. Couldn't really get on it too much. Hopefully he is swinging by my place later tonight so I can go for another ride and see what this baby's got!!!! THe sun was just coming up as I took the pictures, but when he comes back tonight it'll be pitch dark so I had to make the best with what light I had.
You just HAD to one up my Lotus Elise story, didn't ya??? Fucker!
Hey, I'll probably take some videos of it tonight too, but I don't dare post them on the net. I'll just add it to my private little collection of car porn. That car is fuckin' sweet!!!!! Very tight. No squeeks or rattles. The seats are very firm. I love the race car-like gauges. I felt like we could take it to 205 MPH, but the rush hour traffic would not allow it.
I don't really like the looks of it either. I think it's a little too retro for me. Dunno. I really don't like the white stripe at the bottom. It's not a bad looking car buy any means, but it just doesn't get my blood flowing like a Viper.
For some reason the new GT does not do it for me. But the old GT40 does. Strange isn't it............

You two are a couple of GIRLIE MEN!!!!!
Notice how much lower the roof looks on the Ford GT compared to my Viper sitting beside it? That's what I've been saying. I have been seeing these on the street for several months now and it looks so low and wide compared to the Viper when you see it in traffic. Personally I love the car. I know it doesn't do it for some people, but it stirs my soul just like the Viper did when it was first released. Too retro, maybe, but I still think it looks cool as hell.

How about, it looks like the other eleventybillion kit cars out there of the GT40?
And for the record, the Enzo and P-GT look like hell to me also. Performance or not, I think they look like hell.
Was talking to one of the Ford execs on Sunday (their DC man) and he was telling me about racing one of those around a track. Ford put on a day for the execs and they got to race one around at over 170mph, then drive a GENUINE Shelby 427SC side oiler around the track.... another boring day at the office but someone had to do it - wish it was me

I think the Enzo stole the front end from the Mach 5 & the rest of the car from the Coyote
Lucky bastage. The pictures look great. I agree about a Red/White combo being a bit better and I don't particularly care for the while stripes along the bottom, but it still looks amazing. The low profile is awesome. Did I already say how lucky you were, you bastard. Enjoy your second ride.

I was gonna say the same thing about how low and wide the car was. It makes the Viper look like a Mustang in width and heigth....and the Viper is by no means skinny, nor does it sit high. That's what amazed me from those pictures.
Overall I love the cars, it's no Viper, but it's still a damn sexy car
Ford hit a Home Run with the GT. Fast, Sexy, Track Car, 1/4 mile fast, etc. at "Sticker" a world beater, but at $200,000 No. Will do nothing but grow in value, after they shut down the run.
Motor City MadMan
I've been looking all over but Ford dealers in Texas have not been able to get any. How much over sticker are they actually going for in real numbers.
