I've always thought that Powell was actually a closet pacifist despite his illustrious military career. He was probably the closest thing to being the voice of moderation in Bush's administration. I doubt Powell would serve again if Bush gets re-elected.

Would it really matter? Powell was a political decision in 2000, and one that was heavily questioned to begin with. At the time it seemed like a good one, but Powell's foreign policy has always been suspect, and his popularity doesn't appear to be what it was 4 years ago. There might be better candidates waiting in the wings.

Powell is one of the best period. He is has more intellect that any member of the democratic party. I'd vote for him for President at anytime. That being said, Rockstar is correct. His review of this shows someone who is more aware of the politics of this country than yourself. I wonder why? Maybe he cares more for our country than some of the current members of the Democratic party, who seem to be more interested in keeping their ocean views clear, or lining the pockets.

I have no idea who Bush would name, and I've read that Powell has denied that he will not serve a second term, but I was just pointing out that he was criticized in 2000 for not being the right man for the job anyway. I happen to like the guy, but if he does retire I don't think it'll be as big a deal as the democrats will make it out to be.
BTW, us Canadian cowards led the charge into WWII a full 3 months before the Americans were "forced" into it by the attack on Pearl Harbor. Just because I am a victim of a liberal stranglehold on Canadian politics (the same politics you so harshly support on a day-to-day basis) for my entire lifetime, don't ever think that we don't have a proud military history.
