double clutching is for semi's ... retarded on Vipers.. just wearing it down even faster.
if you drive a Viper, heel-toe occurs automatically. Dodge knew your feet would be so busy, they didn't even include a dead pedal!
what is double clutching? what is the purpose of it?
really?
we should let the fuckstick who asked the question answer since $100 says he isnt sure.. he just saw it used on some ricer board.. probably by emeeelie.
it was a way to match revs to get the tranny into gear pre synchro/modern tranny.. like heel-toe/rev matching but you release the clutch to engage it to spin assembly to match.
clutch in
shift to neutral
clutch out
rev
clutch in
place into gear..
a real useful thing on the street in traffic..

Double clutching = Bringing car out of gear (with clutch depressed), into neutral, releasing clutch. Then moving from neutral (clutch depressed), into gear.
This is used primarily on older cars where syncromeshing was not available (or worth a shit) such as oldschool ferrari's and the like. I did this on my lotus to reduce wear on the syncros. You'll want to do this on some of the older euro cars, as it's more about finess of putting them in gear, rather than "grind 'em to you find 'em" of american trans.
This is 100% pointless on a modern T56 trans BTW. It's a stupid word ricers like to throw around, since it was mentioned in F&F.
thanks Ryan. I never heard of that before. I dont know when the modern tranny came into existence, but i have never double clutched in my life...never knew you were supposed to.
unless you really like locking up the rear wheels on a down shift and spinning your car the heel toe method is absolutely necessary. Not matching revs on a down shift is a good way to tear up the drive train and crash the car. You can get away with it on smaller motors but one with this much compression braking will bite you in the ass faster than yotony.
I thought double clutching was what I did from the passenger seat when riding as an instructor. I clutch the door handle with one hand and my heart with the other.
ryan0 no actually i was asking because its recommended to do in Lamborghini's but hey thanks
...well, not really. On the downshift, it's easier on the car/trans if you blip the throttle first (to match revs), but it's not needed per say. This makes it easier on your *CLUTCH*, not your gearbox in this case. Lambo 5spd has syncros, no real need to double clutch.
