can a film company use shots of the front or our building

they are filming a commercial and using the front of our building that has our company name and other stores we own

Not sure what they can and can not do, but I know me and few buddies got read the riot act once many years ago for video taping in the mall. We were told we couldn't film store fronts...names in particular. I don't know the reasoning behind it. It doesn't make sense to me, but I guess you'd have to get permission of some kind. I'm guessing in real movies, those companies that get onto film paid for the advertising.

well to inform you i made my money with MY import export company nothiong wrong with going in to business with family. why would i not put money in to other projects. my mother is one of the leading business women in the country would would i not want to be partners with some one like that

Is it really that big a deal if they film something on your street and your building ends up in the shot without your permission?
