Bears and Mountain Lions tend to respect and fear man for the most part. Alligators do not. Who in their right mind would want to live in Florida around those beasts????????? I am quite happy here in Arizona, swim in a lake and the biggest worry is a crawdad grabbing a hold of the package.
In AZ we have scorpions, gila monsters, black widows, brown recluse, tarantulas, fire ants, killer bee's, centipedes, bears, mountain lions, rattle snakes... and even coral snakes (red meets yellow).
Even after all that I'm prolly leaving some stuff out.
What else sides gaters and Chuck do you have there in Florida???
So was the deer able to hold its breath until the gator left?
Talking about Scorpions, so far after moving outside of Phoenix we have had 4 Scorpions make it into the house. I nearly stepped on one. Makes those late night walks to the kitchen for a glass of water a bit more excit'n! Found a coral snake on my property and on my street a big ole dead rattler. Coyotes use the crick at night and you can hear gthem at nigth yelping when they zero in on a rabbit. Sounds like a baby is being torn apart. Saw a fox at night when we first moved in. Haven't seen any Mountain Lions but they are there in the nearby hills watching. They get a young calf or pet dog once in a while. Most people have one or more dogs around here to avoid losing sparky at night to a pack of coyotes or a Mountain Lion. One thing I have also seen a lot are those damn camel spiders. Quick little bastards, never seen a bug move so fast.
I woudl rather take my chances of dying from venom or a Mountain Lion attack rather than live with reptiles big enough to eat me. Screw that!

Coral Snake
Water Moccasin (VERY venomous)
3 or 4 different species of rattlers
Bob Cats

Alligators
Saltwater Crocodiles
HUGE Water turtles that I see everytime I take my boat out.
Huuuuuge ass sharks (Mako, Sand, barracude)
Some say there there's a sub species of Chuck98RT/10 that is actually polite and caring to the female population but many of the sightings have been a hoax so far.
You forgot at least two types of bears. For some reason we've had a lot of bears showing up in neighborhoods in this area lately. They're small as bears go, but they're still damned big animals you wouldn't want to encounter while, say, jogging before sunrise.
And Chuck is polite and caring. He always says please; he never begs, and he cares very deeply about many parts of many women.
