I got an all expense paid 8 day trip with my 24 year old son to Costa Rica. We leave Monday. Is that cool or what? My brother-in-law and his wife (who live there) are treating us to the trip because we are all still down about Sherris death.
We fly in to San Jose, then take a little puddle jumper plane out into the jungle. We do a canopy tour where we go up a hundred feet or so up in the trees and swing around from tree to tree on pre-made rope ladders and swings and stuff. When we take the rapids all day to the overnight camp site, then finish the rapids the next day to horseback riding, hiking and then the beach.
Wish us luck. It's right near the equator, so hot & humid as heck I assume.
My brother-in-law normally has 20 armed security people, due to his being a high profile rich American living in Costa Rica. This should be interesting.
i did the whole country a couple of summers ago..if you're into surfing..must do guanacaste, tamarindo, la roca bruha ("witches rock"), and playa negra....awesome place. Many hookers, yes, but it's legal (I believe) and they're so frickin beautiful down there. We were on a surfing expedition, so no play play for us, but it was awesome. IMPERIAL beer is the national beer and there are bars every 50 feet.
Enjoy....
p.s. the US embassy is in San Jose,,,very important in case something goes wrong like it did with me (luggage stolen, no passport, id anything.)
