not that many care, but i'll share the summary of my first trip to Hawaii...
well i got back in this morning at 5 am, and i had one of the best vacations ever. We stayed at the Four Seasons. It was first class all the way with great views, service, and food. We did have a few problems with several employees. There was a pregnant bartender who was moody as hell. she asked me for I.D. and she got pissed off when it turned out i was legit. she was snobby from the get-go, and it turned downhill from there. Since she was such a bitch from the beginning, and we went up to the bar ourselves to get our drinks, we didnt tip her . Well she took the booklet that you sign the slip in, and tossed it into a tub of dirty glasses!! i guess she hates men. I played golf on Friday and Saturday. On Saturday i played the course that the Senior's Skins Game is played at. That course ranked up there with Glenn Eagles in Vermont as far as beauty and challenge. I shot terrible, but it didnt bother me b/c the course was so amazing. i honestly sprayed the ball so inconsistently, that i was afraid i would hurt somebody. i have some great pictures of the golf course that i'll get online when i have time. The problem with the resort was they charge high for everything (IBnoshitSherlock). around the pool each drink was 10 bucks, pizza was 25, and sandwiches were 18. They had a Wolfgang Puck restaurant there, and dinner for 7 was 750 bucks with shitty service. The great thing about the Four Seasons is they will make you anything you want whether it is on the menu or not. Everything i ate was excellent. Besides price, there was very little reason to eat elsewhere. We took a helicopter tour into the rain forest and over Hana. the waterfalls were abundant, but amazing. the only downfall was our pilot. he talked too much, and tried to get everybody involved in his humor. i wish he just told us the facts, and then shut his mouth. Then on Sunday, we went snorkeling to Molokini (the crescent shaped "crater" that is overcrowded, and popular for snorkeling). it was fucking terrible! i suggest NEVER going there. it looked like the wave pool at Wet-n-Wild. too many people, no fish, and dead coral. what pisses me off about the trip was, we knew that Molokini was overrated. so we drove 30 minutes to a boat that was supposed to avoid Molokini. There was a swell that had moved in, and it caused the coastline to be too murky to snorkel. thus, we went to Molokini . Sunday night, we didnt get to see fireworks b/c of the legalities. hell, i saw fireworks in Canada last year, but not in Hawaii this year? oh well. i really cant think of anything else. I'm sure i will as i look through the pics.
Molokini was 100% different 15-20 years ago. It used to be relatively uncrowded and you could actually feed the fish. There were tons of fish and they flocked to the crackers you could take in the water with you. That is where I saw my first reef shark up close. I went back about 7 years ago and it was crap - overcrowded and no more feeding the fish. Also, quite a bit less fish and variety.
I recommend some of the less traveled islands in Tahiti for some awesome beach/snorkeling adventures - still not very crowded and very much in its natural state.

OMG, Kid we agree again...much of HI is beginning to become too "crowded," but some of the more uninhabited places on the big island for instance (HILO side) is very nice. OAHU is out of the question...only reason to go there is Halewia, Norethsore, and Wianiea....
The great thing about Hawaii is that you're "still in the states" even though it may not seem like it at times. Some reverse racism (if that's even possible) exists. I've been with friends and they were discriminated against even when I was with them...F'd up in my opinion.
I am leaving on the 17th for a week. I'll go island hopping, etc. Pics pics pics.....

Did you read your own post?
You start with "best vacation of my life...." and then describe all the problems you encountered! WTF???
Maybe that really IS the best vacation. One where you have all the typical issues and STILL think you had one incredible time? Dunno
My wife and I spent 2 weeks there. Manele Bay Hotel on Lanai, Ritz on Maui and Halekalani (sp?) on Oahu. Biggest problem we faced is that we were just SO convinced that we were at the best vacation spot on Earth that nothing could match the anticipation. Beautiful all around, but (and there were plenty of buts) Lanai is too quiet and Maui is too loud (for us of course). Oahu had some great Hawaiian shirts! :thumb:
Vacations (as well as me apparently, by virtue of this post) are peculiar to the moment.
OK...done with the mental field trip....nice to have ya back! :thumb:

you have a very good point
there are 10000 other things that i left out that made the trip what it was. this was one of those trips that no matter what happened, i was going to have a great time. i mentioned one specific employee that was a bitch, but there were over 200 that were some of the nicest people i have met in a long time. it is very rare that i travel somewhere, and the people have the friendly attitude i am used to seeing at home. i do wish the chopper pilot didnt talk as much, but nothing beats the view of a helicopter. basically, i did mention the only bad i encountered b/c it would take a week to describe the good...
