I still don't get this item. It looks like if you bolt it on you are going to be left with holes in your body when/if you take it off, and if you just leave it on, well, you'll look dumb. Wouldn't it just be better to make sure your tips aren't actually touching the body, and if they still melt the area around the outlet, just replace the rear clip every 5-10 years? Or, how about wrapping the tips with heat resistant header wrap, so that the tips won't fry the body, yet the wraps would still not stick out like the goofy plate?

Wrapping the tips in header wrap would look pretty nasty. Im sure most who do this mod probably are just doing it for the "bling" factor and nothing else. If the rear facia getting warped was a huge problem, vendors would have possibly had something out to remedy it long ago.
