Up at the crack of dawn to catch a flight to New York only to find an hour wait to get through ticketing/security. Barely made the flight (someone blonde hair/blue eyes screams terrorist as I was singled out for "additional" checks) and ended up next to two teenage girls from WI going to NYC to "party" (although apparenty with "no money").
YoTony was out front with the Lincoln, a little hat and my name on a card. (Okay, not with a hat or a card, but it would have made for a good picture). I know everyone says it, but its true - Tony is completely different than you picture him to be. While stocky, I still think I could take him (yeah, right, if I ran him out of breath first). Bastard has a fist the size of a brick.
Got lost, but finally found the "shop" (I wont call it a dealer, its a "shop", enough said). Frank, the shop owner, and Tony got alot like old friends since they both had a thing for bikes. City showed up shortly after and we all gave the car the eagle eye. Once it passed muster did the paperwork and drove off with my new Baby Roadster.
Unfortunately, that was the start of a shitty drive home. Who the fuck thought it would be a good idea to put so many fucking people on Long Island? Hour and a half in stop and go 20mph traffic to get off the damn thing! Didn't take long to get the "dead right leg" syndrome. Ended up with traffic almost all the way home (6 hours!). Ran into ravensfan on the beltway driving his new SRT10 - pulled over and introduced myself.
Thanks Tony for helping out and lunch - thanks City for stopping by and offering your feedback (sweet daughter!). And thanks to Chuck and Len for running some VINs for me. I'll post some pics later, but brought home a 2000 Steel Grey RT10 with 10k miles and about as clean as you can get.
is that the car we were talking about the one he din't know the color of??????...it seemed like a pretty clean car in my opinion.....p/m me the vin again and i'll run it..i think it needed the 998 steering recall didn't it??...Len
Congrats MP, Steel Gray is a great color. By ravensfan, do you mean Jody? I was out in Manassas earlier for some car cruise/gathering. (Burger King?) I couldn't get errands done fast enough this morning and missed the lunch and get together at Hooters earlier.
Traffic was a mess on 66/495 around 2:00 pm, at least it was a beautiful day to drive.
Lots of talk about a Viper Alley getogether in our area, but nothing is ever planned.
Now that your sportin' Viper again, we should all try to get together.
I believe his name was Jody and his wife/girlfriend? Will catch up with him later.
There was a fatality up near Maryland House that had traffic in the Northbound lanes backed up like 5 miles! :yikes: Traffic was a mess in both directions - was amazed being a Saturday afternoon!
Yes, Len, thats the one. I had Chuck run the VIN as well and you both said the same thing about it being clean - also needing one of the recalls. I'll PM the VIN so I can get it done asap.
Chuck Tator has a warrenty and since the car went into service on June 28th, 2000, I have until Monday to get one. $2100 or so - which seems like probably a good thing to get.
Only thing I noticed on the way home was a bit of a "whine" when crusing in 3rd gear or higher. Seems like a transmission thing.
John, I do think we need a VA/MD/DC-whatever get-together. I was thinking a big cookout at one of the parks (like Bull Run) where can have lots of parking space right where can can pitch some games and cook out. What do you think?
Will have some pics tomorrow. Got home, wiped and each kid wanted a short ride. Then I offered the wife a ride and she told me to get out she wanted to take it for a ride! oy!
SWEET CAR!!! And MP looked cute stuffing the bunny suit in the trunk.
Big props to YoT. If only the guy can just hold back a smidgen....guess we'll see.
Congrats MP! Sorry 'bout the traffic. If you didn't overheat in that traffic and humidity, then you never will! Now you know what it's like to be a "CitySnake" :thumb:
Yes, that car is gorgeous, even after the long ride. How strange to run into each other at such an odd place? Again, congrats on the car. The wife and I were all goo goo eyed over it.
John, sorry I missed the lunch today. From what I read, sounds like everybody had a great time.
mike...when ya get the recall done mention the trans noise and see if they will change the fluid to the newer fluid that ends with the number 459..it's a better fluid...i've heard of the old style of fluid to be a little noisy...and yes..buy that warranty from chuck..if it jus covers the trans later it'll be worth it...Len
