Valentine V1 and the no speeding ticket

Recently I noticed my V1 didn't pick up a stationary tell you your speed camera, which I thought could be a problem. Especially because when I bought my Viper over 3 years ago, I took my V1 with me so I'd have it for the drive back home and it plugged in and sounded off like it was working, but would not detect ANYTHING - I sent it in and had it repaired and it worked thereafter. Well, I end up getting pulled over the other week with no alarm out of the V1, first time ever legitimately, and was told I was clocked at 48/35 - luckily, the cop let me off with a warning! I don't think he was bs'ing me, given the recent stationary camera observation. I found the second go around of this non-functioning to be pretty disconcerting, and said so in my letter to Valentine along with my V1 I sent in for service. Well, I've got my V1 back today (just in time, heading out to Charleston, SC in just a minute), just 1 week after sending it in (8 days actually), so we'll see if it works. Oh, and I didn't include payment information as they request for service mail-ins that are out of the 1 year warranty, and was not charged for the servicing :thumb: But I'm still annoyed about it's repeated functioning failure (especially since a ticket would have been more than a service charge for repairing it), though love its performance otherwise.

wow, i'm surprised they didn't just give you a new one. That's what I would have pretty much asked for in the letter.

I did ask for a new one actually, but the serial # looks like the old one. I'll see how it works on my ~5 hour drive to Charleston I'm about to embark on...

Mine was messed up when it arrived too. SUPER sensitive -- any time it picked up any X-band the strength meter was pegged out. I checked the settings and they were at the defaults. I returned it, and they sent the same one back (or at least the same case, I guess they could have swapped the guts) and it has worked fine ever since.

I actually have X-band turned off most of the time, but since it was new (and 4 bills) I wanted it working first.
