Ratings, 1 or 5 better??

What's up with these ratings? What's the purpose?
Is a 1 or 5 better? If a 1 sucks, why doesn't it require the person rating another to log their name and reason? I'd like to visit a few people who have given me bad ratings.

I think it's kind of a "high school" thing. Who's in with the in crowd, etc. But I do make it a point to always give newbies (with "rate me please?" where the petes go) five stars, 'cause it pisses off some of the most heavily ego-invested here.
Hell, if I ever got to three petes, I might even donate! LOLOL

It's been my observation that if you mention your ratings you instantly get lowered to a 1!
For whatever it's worth, I don't pay any attention to them.

Also, you have to look at the whole of it. It is Their rating of You, not your rating of yourself. They are free to rate you however they feel! It's not like there is a quarterly bonus handed out based on our ratings. Don't sweat it Dude, you're not nearly as offensive as some of these rogues [img]/images/graemlins/laughing.gif[/img]
