anybody have one of these? if so, do they live up to how they are advertised? it looks like it would be an asset to do some of the small lots i have gotten myself into. thanks!
but if you have a flat lot.. you could do acres a day...
exactly the answer i was looking for. thanks ryan!
de nada.. think of it as a self-powered, key start, weedeater.. with a 4 speed tranny.. that will take out 3" thick trees/bushes/sticks and leave a 3ft wide path of mulched weeds in its path..
it also cuts right through lead pipe sprinklers and faucets that may be hidden in all the brush.. so bring a plumber..

excellent point. glad i didnt learn the hard way!!
Aha! Finally someone asks a question in my true field of expertise!
I have the 15HP Kawasaki powered version, with a locking differential. It is badass! I live on a VERY hilly lot (had problems w/ a Ford 4WD tractor in parts) and rarely spin a tire. I got one of the very early ones, and helped them resolve some early issues (gas tank relocated, frame strengthened, etc). I have 2 cutting heads for mine. The "brush" head (blade weighs about 5 pounds, cuts a 26" path) and the "lawn" deck (3 blades, cuts a 46" path). Even the 46" deck cuts grass/weeds/etc that is over a foot high. My neighbors think I'm out of my freaking mind because I mow up and down both sides of the street, and pathways to the state park that is near my house.
In "high" gear, the mower goes about 5MPH. It takes about 4.5 hours to mow "everything" when I do it all. That is a lot of mileage, at almost 4' per pass! I have had the mower for 5+ years, and have not had any problems with it after about the first 18 months (we'll call that "the fire incident"). They have been very good about getting me parts when they wear out, and being very reasonable about weather I should be charged anything for them (many times not). This is all WELL after warranty.
BTW - Ryan is right. It will cut through whatever gets in it's path. Like it or not. I have a few confirmed rattler kills w/ mine also.
Careful with them, they are not nearly as tough as they are made out to be.
Jerome - I would be interested to hear why you say that. I have been *brutal* to mine, and it has held up very well... Initially, as I mentioned, I had more than my share of issues, but this was when they were a pretty new product. After the "fire incident" I upgraded to the larger motor, and have had nothing go wrong w/ it.

pun intended?
honestly, that is GREAT to hear. i think i am going to go after the 17hp with the 30" deck. it would make my life so much easier, and pay for itself in 2 weeks!
Jerome, i wont be cutting through trees and shit like they show on the info-mercial. i dont need to withstand exactly what they advertise it as doing, just need it to be able to cut down 3-4' tall grass with no problem. i might run into something here and there that is 3" thick, but not that often. thanks again guys!!

I see them at work all the time. Seems like anything and everything breaks on them. Some people have zero problems, but most have some big ones.
Looks like quality control is not there on them.
They are not bad, don't get me wrong, just don't abuse it and most will be fine. But when you do need to repair it, be prepared to wait for parts and/or pay out the ass if the warranty is up.

PS: Buy some bike or ATV ramps to get it in and out of your vehicle if you are going to be taking the mower places. I used to just "manhandle" mine into the truck, but that is NOT recommended.
Buy an ATV cover for it also, unless you have an indoor place to park it.
