I'm looking for a truck that can haul a 2-car trailor (with 2 cars) and also take on hauling a 20' speed boat+trailor without much fuss. Diesel I'm guessing is the way to go for all the torque required.
Dodge, Ford or Chebby? I'd obviously like to stay mopar, but unsure about the older cummins and their trannies.
I was actually looking to a few years older, no sense in taking a huge hit on a new truck these days. It's sole function will be to haul cars/boat and lumber/house stuff.
If you are doing a lot of towing - get the 6 speed and the exhaust brake. (Autos are for sissies) It's the best towing accessory out there. You NEED it - especially if you are thinking about hauling 2 cars. Your brakes will thank you. And it's WAY better than the "hill holding" feature of the Allison.
Hummer? I think not. Ever been in one? I've been in plenty military vehicles, and it's not a towing rig by any means. I did see a black hummer towing a powerboat once, and all I could think to myself was "damn...that guy has to show the world doesn't he?" hehehe. At a top speed of 55 no less
