A day after Ronald Reagan's death Sen. John Kerry praised him for his "love of country" and geniality. But as recently as last year Kerry boasted:
"I'm proud that I stood against Ronald Reagan, not with him, when his intelligence agencies were abusing the Constitution of the United States and when he was running an illegal war in Central America."
That's just one of a series of anti-Reagan quotes unearthed by the Weekly Standard, where the Massachusetts Democrat slams Reagan as everything from an "inexperienced" governor to a dime store cowboy.
But it was the battle over U.S. aid to Nicaragua's Contra freedom fighters - backed by Reagan and opposed by Congressional Democrats - that drove Kerry to extremes.
He was one of ten signatories to the infamous "Dear Commandante" letter that offered Sandinista leader Daniel Ortega a deal: Don't do anything too overtly Marxist and Democrats would see to it that the Reagan-backed freedom fighters would be denied funding.
After Reagan lost the vote, Ortega promptly traveled to Moscow to get further instructions from his Soviet patrons, leaving Kerry and crew looking like communist dupes.
Make sure you and all your friend get out and vote - then we won't have to worry about snowman senior getting elected...
Actually, my prediction is still that he self implodes...
Give the demos another week of trying to be nice since Reagan's death - I'm sure it is absolutely fucking killing them to actually HAVE to say nice things...
"I'm proud that I stood against Ronald Reagan, not with him, when his intelligence agencies were abusing the Constitution of the United States and when he was running an illegal war in Central America."
So I take it you're proud you did? People are pretty emotional now about Regan, but the man was not perfect.

Just a little harsh there smoke... But thats ok.
Reagan was one cool ass president. He too was a cowboy.
I will never forget the day he was shot. And how it upset my father.
Reagan kicked some ass. But he wasn't much of an economists. Reaganomics didn't work all that well. But fuck it. he was one of my all time favorite Presidents.
I have two words for blowman - besides agreeing with every word Jason typed - and those two words are hypocrite and appeaser.
That sums you snowie...
You have no spine - and just really don't grasp reality... Thank god only about 7% of AMERICANS agree with you twisted logic... And we call those 'fringe'... Both sides have them - but it sounds like you are in Kerry's camp of being the leftmost leaning senator...
Good job...now please go get a razor and stop you bumbling madness...

Blah, blah, go to college and learn how to communicate.
Wow - some sense was finally typed by the snowman... Keep those comments up and I might eventually have some respect for you...
Like I have always said - I do not agree with everything GWB has done - but, he is the right person at the right time - he has the strength, courage, conviction, the ability to know right from wrong, and a determination to choose the right path.
Much like Reagan had...
Although you can sense Snowman's wiggle room, just in case, he has to state - "if the article is true..."
Here is the link Snowman - check it out yourself...

Unfortunately what Bush lacks, and that which made Reagan great, was the ability to admit when he was wrong and a willingness to take responsibility for the actions of those who work for him.
On these two points alone Bush will never be even close to Reagan in terms of integrity, honor and respect.
Thanks Mike... Yeah, that is what I was implying, or should I say the article was...
Actually, today on Rush, I catch it once in a while if I am in my truck, he actually played three clips on Kerry in regards to Reagan - one in 1999, one in 2003 and one as of Sunday...
Kerry just blasts Reagan on his misguided policies - and boasts how he stood against him, etc... Then the Sunday piece - which stated how much respect he had for Reagan and then listed some of Reagan's accomplishments - THE EXACT SAME ONES HE SMEARED REAGAN WITH A YEAR PRIOR...
Again, not that I needed to tell any of you this - but Kerry is his own worst enemy - and that is why I am predicting he self-implodes...
Not trying to dig him - I just don't know anything that he really stands for or what he can do - and I have watched dozens of his speeches... I also know it must be really hard for him to deal with this Reagan situation - it damn near must kill him to actually make non violent statements...
Can you imagine the Nancy Pelosi dinner table... Yikes - I bet she is foaming that the republicans planned the timing of his death
Kerry is trying to play both sides of almost every issue I've ever heard him talk about. I can listen to him speak and never get a sense of where he stands.
I thought McCain said it best on Meet The Press (or something like that, just the other day) - Reagan would fight for his adgenda, but at the end of the day he would sit down for drinks with boths sides of the isle. He built up alot of respect from everyone who worked with him - not just Republicans.
Did you know Ronny was a Democrat for a long time and switched parties? He also served in the military, but with a vision problem he was transferred and worked making training films for the troops.
The level of partisanship we see today is unlike anything we have ever seen before - two parties that cannot work together at all. So much work is not getting done because to two side refuse to sit down and work out their differences.
Reagan had it right all along - push your adgenda, but keep it civil.
