Tickets right now are between $700 and $1500... We're thinking of using some miles - and possibly going super early in the morning to avoid standing in line for 7 hours...
Just trying to decide if we fly tonight or tomorrow...
I see that in Cali - the lines are so long - they are going to tell people not to get in line at 3pm - because they stop the event at 10pm...
Booked em... We're flying out at 1pm tomorrow - returning Thursday morning early...
Believe me - I won't have the same reaction when Carter or Willy take their dirt nap... Although I am sure the oval office will speak for itself with their legacy...
Yeah I know - one of the guys on Rush said that it was 5 hours of traffic and 3 hours in line...
We plan to take a taxi straight down there tomorrow when we land...
I am in no hurry - I just know that this is something that I'll look back on and kick myself for not attending... Plus we want to visit a couple other sites while there...
Right now we're on a 1pm flight tomorrow - returning Thursday morning at 8:30am...
Sorry, not as potent in real life compared to a keyboard... Pretty low key - and open to listening to the 'other side' - ask Par...! I listened to him and SB go at it for an hour before telling them both to STFU!
Discussing politics in person is much like debating the Bible... It never ends - and gives me a headache...
But, would be more than happy to buy you a beer and discuss anything but politics or the bible... We do enough of that on here...
Glen, one thing to keep in mind - security is going to be tight and NO CAMERAS and NO BAGS. So, leave everything at your hotel or they wont let you in. They are practicing the flyovers right now - going to be 21 jets total for the actual thing.
I won't be back til Friday late night - having drinks with Smokin', Anthony and hoping Trey and JH will make it Thursday night.
Next time and its a deal.
Me and my wife are planning to go down the the reagan library in santa barbara after the burial is done. Probably in a few weeks after the hoopla has calmed down. I think reagan did a lot of good for this country; he won a war and created peace with his word alone against the only opposing superpower in a time of distrust and fear. IMHO his action created far more good for citizens outside america than within america, case in point: i got family who was left behind on the wrong side of the wall after WWII who now can live free with their children having at least a chance of creating their own fortune.
Reagan Library is in Simi Valley. They had 50 shuttles and the wait was still 8 hours, thats after the 4 hour freeway traffic and doesnt include the actual wait time at the library.
I heard a collage last night of Reagan's most memorable speeches, quotes and sayings, and it was awesome. I hope someone makes that available for download somewhere. It must have lasted 20 minutes...
Lot's of really funny stuff too, he had a great sense of humor.
When he got to heaven I'm sure God said, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
I saw on the news last night that our Excel Energy Center (where our hockey team plays) - is having a memorial this Saturday... Not sure what is happening - if they'll have clips from Reagan or what...
It is starting to hit home just how big this actually is... I think it is great - pulling people together again...
