Good topic. I LOVE the movies.. nothing better than a greasy bag of popcorn, watching a sci-fi movie or epic....
Isn't it illegal to price fix? TO have a captive audience and gouge them? Isnt' it illegal or against some sort of law to charge what they do for popcorn, etc?
In the theatres defense its pretty much common knowledge that concessions is where the theatre makes its money. The money from the ticket sales goes to the studios that made the movies.
If you bitch about the prices at the theatre, then you also need to bitch about the prices in Vegas, at any theme park across the country, the mall, etc.

Start a thread. I'm sure somebody will bitch about it.
is insane! I mean forget about the price (even a matinee), but the cost of a soda and popcorn?! $10 bucks for one of each?! And for that I get about 20 cents worth of soda (no refills) and not much more value in popcorn.
When I travel and get done with the delivery. I usually go to the movies in the afternoon (matinee) and do not leave till they close (usually 3 movies). fuck them. I still spend about $20.00 for just me.
i NEVER go to the movies. i go to at most, 1 per year. i just wait for them to come out on DVD. i'd rather be able to pause the movie, take a shit, eat whatever, make out with my g/f, etc. and, i get all that freedom at less cost....

I have an extensive home theatre setup with THX equipment, dual subs, the whole 9 yards. However, even that doesn't compare to the experience of a huge screen theatre. Granted movies come out on DVD quicker, I prefer seeing some movies in the theatre first.
I'll let my wife go see it with her sister, and I know she'll buy it anyway on DVD.
2 adult tickets = 1 DVD... and we're not even talking about pop&pop.
