This picture was taken yesterday over the school by our house. This is the storm which then went northeast and started dropping tornados - a lot of them:
So tonight we are coming home from the movies (Day After Tomorrow, what else) and we end up watching another storm come in from the west. Beautiful to watch it come over a star-filled night sky with lightning all over the place. I decided I would try my hand at taking a picture with lightning. By the time I figured out how to do it, the storm was directly overhead and I missed some of the better lightning shots. This one was still kinda cool, over the same school as the picture above:
Do you ever have any problems with tornados and your home or neighborhood?
While we weren't there at the time, they say a twister went right up our street when our house (and the school across from it) were being built in 1991. We get some pretty wild straightline winds from time to time, but nothing catastrophic yet (knocking on wood). Grew up in Iowa and watched a tornado nail the house across our street when I was about nine years old. Never dull!
