DVD Recorders

Has anyone purchased one of the DVD Recorders (not the PC type, I have two of those) - the kind you can plug your DVCAM right into and record DVD's off your camcorder? I was looking at this Sony Model at Best Buy.

Re: DVD Recorders

Looks like its got the i.Link sony Firewire too, so 1394 would be the way to get a good copy off the MiniDV tape.

$699 though, kinda spendy.

Isn't there still some Codec issues though, as in whether the burnt DVD will play back in other players? as in is it a MPG4 or Compatible Compression rate?

I've only tried copying or burning a couple DVDs in my home machine PC tower. They didn't want to play back on my JVC 7-disk progressive scan DVD home player.
