The 2 best days of owning a boat: The day you get it and the day you sell it!
Exactly. If you're not really into boats, I'd suggest not buying one. They're a lot of money, and they're a pain in the ass. I have 120 feet of waterfront and a dock, the boat came with about $3000 in free ski equipment, and we STILL never used ours after the first six months.
The only people I see using them regularly are old folks.
I predict six months from now, you'll be on the phone trying to find somebody who will take it in trade for a Viper. (Woodhouse might. *cough* Or so I've heard.)
id just find a place to rent one. might be $150 a day but it end up paying that just to have it detailed after i use it. if you go out a dozen times in a year the bug will wear off and you will thank us and save thousands
Gerald
Once you get the boat I am sure that all future Viper meetings will be at the dock or on or anound the boat, right.
That is a good idea to first rent one for several outings to make sure that that boat will be the one. You know that they say the 2 best days in a boat owners life are, the day you buy it and the day you sell it (at a very deep discount).
either way with summer coming real soon it would make for one great fun summer and plenty of new stories.
Once I finish building in Palm Coast you can boat on up.
By saying I'm not into boats is my knowlege of them. I grew up on the water and do all things water related. THe last boat I had was a small 14' john boat with a 35 HP outboatd on it. Damn that thing flew.... Knee board city!!
Boarding, Scuba, I LOVE to flat fish, Love to swim, spearfish, you name it, etc. I would never get bored of a boat contraty to beleif. Here on the Nature Coast of Florida, it has some of the best wilderness and boating / fishing / swimming in the WORLD.
boats are boring. Wow we're doing 35 and using as much gas as a fleet of H2's. that's not fun.
Oh yeah, take a ride with me on the Pacific at 90 mph, catch the wake of the Catalina cruiser and take 6 ft. of air and tell me how boring it is
Oh yeah I had the 2nd happiest day of my life last week
I'm thinking a 18 to 20' flats boat (kind with pedestal over motor) with about a 115HP Yamaha on it. Power Tilt / Trim, etc with trailer.....
Pedestal over motor....say what????? You mean an outboard?

Mark ,
Here in FL they have boats that you can fish on the "flats". Flats are shallow water for MILES that have Tarpon, trout, redfish among other gamefish. It pays to sit up high or have a high place to stand to spot the schools. Some boats have PEDASTALS (sp?) built OVER the motor in the rear the you can stand on to get a birds eye view..

Ehhh....for me it's more like "We're doing 110mph (GPS) and using as much gas as an old diesel aircraft carrier." At full tilt it's measured in gallons per mile rather than mpg.
Makes me wanna get something smaller with a single big engine instead of 2.
Gerald, sounds like a good purchase! There's nothing better than a day on the lake relaxing and catching some fish.
