Amazing F1 stats...

I was just watching the practice session for this weekends F1 race and they were talking about a few things...

F1 cars under full braking will exert over 5 negative g's. WOW!

and you NASCAR guys think F1 cars are for wimps. [img]/images/graemlins/laughing.gif[/img]

Also...new HP #'s from BAR Honda... over 900 HP out of a 3.0 V10 with NO forms of forced induction. That HP will produce around +2.5 g's under full acceleration.

and another bit of info on tires...the tires when up to racing temps...will react to the racing surface and create a chemically induced bond that acts like a glue of sorts. Also the tires actually get into the contours of the road surface and grab on to the little cracks and gaps within the surface thus pulling the tire into the surface. Amazing stuff.

Amazing stats, but that stuff about the tires is true for all tires. Ever heard the phrase "Tires conform to the road" well, that's what it means.

Pretty amazing that the amount of down force created by the aerodynamics would enable an F1 car to drive upside-down along the roof of a tunnel if you could get it up there.
