I don't know. How do you drain the gearbox and not find out it wasn't the crankcase when large amounts of oil come out when you remove the filter? Even then, how do you not know, when you put X number of quarts of oil back in and it is WAY over full??? Also, isn't the gearbox oil quite a differnt color and smell?
Don't get me wrong, I do feel sorry for the guy, but certain things just don't make sense.

In the end, he could damn near have bought another 308 for what he spent. Why don't people get references from the local owners about who to go to first? Why wait to call other customers until after your phucked?
the 308 is to ferrari what the boxter is to porsche.
Actually I believe the 308 series was one of the most successful street cars made from Ferrari. Almost 15,000 308's were built on various forms from 1974-1986.
I happen to think they are very nice cars and help support a fan base for many other Ferrari cars.
99.99% of all versions are holding their values quite well and many are increasing every year.
They may not be the fastest cars but they drive nice, easy to work on (for a Ferrari) and sounds really nice with the proper aftermarket exhaust.
