I was sitting at the light when I saw a black truck jump the curb and hit the light pole head on (light pole came out of the ground and fell over). I hurried across the intersection and rendered aid. The guy was convulsing and had burn marks all over his face from the airbag. Luckily, he was wearing his seat belt. It was a good thing he didnt make it past the intersection, because I was in his path of objects to hit. Im pretty sure if it werent for him wearing his seat belt, he likely would have gone through the windsheild. Thats definatly not what I would have wanted to see. The paramedics got there fast and you could tell buy the looks on their faces, that the guy wasnt in to good of condition. When I got there to check on him, he was slumped over on the steering wheel, unconscious and convulsing. He hit the pole so hard that the bottom half of the pole actually almost made it to his firewall (his windows were also blown out). Life-Flight finally landed and took him away. As I was giving my statement, I overheard the cops talking, apparently there were drugs in the truck. One good thing, his neighbor had happen to be driving by and noticed his truck. She stopped and provided some info on the guy. Seems that he has a history of seizures. I just thank God that he didnt hit me or anyone else. All I could do was pray for the guy and hope he pulled through. It was very sobering.
MM, your story tops the list. Mine was minute compared to yours. I did all I could. I didnt want to take the guy out of the truck, for fear he may have broken his neck or had a serious head injury. Good thing I took all those First Aid/CPR classes in high school. As soon as I saw it happen, I prepared myself to do what I needed to do (if anything drastic).
Go out and get LAID now!! Think if that light pole had not been there. No more Austin and you would forever be a virgin.
For the most part they are. The trouble is that you need to hit them the same way in any direction. If the vehicle was lifting at the time, or it there was a curb that slowed the car down so there was little force forward.
Too many vaiables for Toby to cover them all. He's lucky the pole wasn't charged. Or that the circuit breaker popped, because Toby would have been fried otherwise. It doesn't take much voltage to stop your heart.
people that are prone to siezures shouldn't have driver's licences. We don't give licences to people with shitty eyesight. Why are these liabilities to society allowed to get behind the wheel?
