Re: Poll: will we pull out at the end of June as promised?
I don't think he promised we would "pull out"; he indicated we would be there for "as long as it takes" for them to transisition over to a stable government.

First of all, Bush did not say we will pull out.He said we are handing power back to the Iraq gov't.We will help them stay in power.Nothing about us leaving there June 30th

We aren't pulling out in June and no one has ever stated anything remotely close it.
The plan is to establish a provisional government in Iraq, with full sovereign powers, by the end of June. It is hoped that Iraq would write a constitution and elect a democratic government by the end of 2005.
Our troops aren't going anywhere. If you haven't figured it out yet, if we were to leave Iraq would immediately lapse into full-on civil war.
If we miss the deadline it's because their isn't any provisional government to hand-over power to. The 24-member council is not stable and has established little if any governing authority in the country. Every Cleric in Iraq (and Iran and Syria) seems to be interested in being the next Saddam and that is something we will not allow to happen. So of course these Clerics tell their followers to attack us. Iraq isn't Western Europe in 1945... they don't understand terms like "democratic process" and "individual rights" and it is going to take a long time before they do.
Get used to an American military presence in Iraq for a long, long time. Thank God.

I thought we were turning the job of governing Iraq back to the Iraqis, not removing our Troops and Halliburton rebuilders. Whatever is going to happen will be with a lot of terrorism in an effort to influence the U.S. election by the foreign terrorists of Al Qaida. At least they are in one country and maybe we can exterminate them before they exterminate any more of us.

It is obvious that SoCal and a couple of others did not ***listen to*** President Bush last night, nor did they READ anything about what he said.
The Coalition Provisional Authority will hand over soveriegnty to an Iraqi governing council on June 30. Bush gave a clear, concise timeline for elections and installation of elected officials into 2005. He said nothing, nor did he infer anything about packing up and coming home on June 30, 2004.
