Re: M3 for daily driver?

Stay the fuck away from SMG!!! I don't know how many times I have to say this (can we make that "sticky"?)

The E46 is a great daily driver, just too heavy and under-tired for the track.

Re: M3 for daily driver?

SMG sucks. Around town it never really feels like it knows what it's doing in any of the modes. On the track, it's just not any faster than a 6spd in the hands of someone who knows how to drive. So, to me, it's useless and just one more expensive thing that can break.

I originally ordered SMG on my E46 (PMUM told me to...one of the few times he ever admitted to being wrong). So, a couple months before my car was here, I took the first SMG out that was in town. I hated it and immediately changed my order to 6spd.

The car was great but it was slower than my E36 on the track. It pushes like crazy because there isn't much front tire. Around town, it was great, but since I could get the nasty cool guy deal on the M5, I yardsaled the E46 and upgraded on the door and cylinder count.

There was a run of '01's that was blowing motors. BMW gave all cars up to mid-03 a free 100K powertrain warranty to offset the risk in buying one.

I'm outta here to grab some late night snacks with The Jew. Give me a holler if you're serious about this. For what you need it for, though, it's a great car.

WTF is wrong with silver? Sometimes it's nice to have a car that isn't readily identifiable.

Well no officer, I can't tell you what KIND of BMW it was, but I can tell you that it was hot pink with flame stickers on it.

Re: M3 for daily driver?

It can be graphite. There are numerous colors that are similar to silver.

Silver is waaay played out. Every other household has a silver car here and almost all of them are BMWs or MBs.

I like driving my bro's E36 more than the viper sometimes...It's a sweet ride no doubt..I've heard mixed reviews about SMG from smg owners...no different than what i"m hearing here.

Re: M3 for daily driver?

Go with stick, and for resales sake, stay away from the odd colors. BMW will tell you that the funky blue & mustard yellow cars are available in limited quantities....thats because the people that would actually one them are VERY limited. Go with your favorite "more mainstream" color. Personally I like the graphite or black. Just my two cents. :thumb:

The Nassau blue is even more foul. Anyone who would buy that color is BEYOND color blind. Talk about fuckin tasteless. Buying that color is no different than an idiot pant saggin ricer painting his civic some flourescent glow-in-the-dark color. It just screams "IDIOT". Fuckin vile to the nth degree.

It think Eslab can outdo Getbit. Hey, Eslab here has a Twin Turbo Viper and Getbit's viper is, well, a sorry bone-stock slow excuse of a Texas Viper.
