How many of you are using your College education in your current career ?

I majored in Biology/Science and I've been working in the Electronics industry for the last 12 years..My Degree has no relation at all to what I do for a living.

How many other folks out there are in the same situation ??

As for you question, no. I'm graduating with a BA in Business and am an electronics technician.

This topic comes up on a regular basis and I'm always surprised that so many people end up in jobs totally unrelated to their education. But then, I've always felt that a degree is merely an aptitude test for future success. If you earned a degree, you are qualified to learn in other fields....... and get paid.

But for me, I'm glad I have degree related work. BSME, MSME. Current position: Director of Engineering/R&D.

I'm a college dropout. But, since I sold my last company (satellite communications) and went into retirement at 42, maybe I should go back and get that degree! nahhh!! I think I'll just start another company. [img]/images/graemlins/supergrin.gif[/img]

Many people complete college and go out and make the BOSS a very rich person. Some of us left after a year or two, took a chance and went into business. Many of us hire some of the college grads if they can make us money. I try and hire the better spellers to type letters for me.lol

Not all grads work for others, some have taken the big jump and are very successful.

Exactly the same, City. Only I've never been on "Homo's Gone Wild : Mykonos" Other than that we're interchangeable ... Tony could just as well be here in Austin designing next generation microprocessors and I could fall off scaffoldings in NYC.

Degree served me well...

Now, did I learn anything - well, about all that carried over from college to the real world were things like dedication, committment, etc... College prepared me for very little - but, it opened the first door and then I opened others...

Short story long - yes, did exactly what I went to school for - business computer information system...
