And made a HUGE deal over it in the media.....go figure.
Ridiculous.
Good for her. I hate that fat hog, but I'm glad she wasn't discriminated against by others in the country who want to force their sense of morality on her.
And actually, one of the biggest reasons this is a big deal is one that many are totally unaware of. Rosie's "partner" was forced to testify against her during the trial involving her magazine cash dispute. This was a pretty shitty situation, because if Rosie and her partner were afforded the same rights as a hetero couple, her partner would not have been forced to testify against her.
I think it's pretty f-ed up that just because her partner is a woman, we don't allow her not to testify against Rosie. Trey, ironically interracial marriage was not allowed until something like the 1960's. Can you imagine if an interracial couple was forbidden to marry but lived together anyway, and the woman was forced to testify against the man, because society didn't recognize them as a couple.

It's no different.
100% unacceptable analogy Mike. And one that has been hashed out here over the last few weeks. You and I are on opposing sides where gay/lesbian rights, and the lifestyle itself, are concerned. Leave it at that.

No, it's not at all. I read a study that something like 60% of people from 18-30 were pro-gay marriage. 50% of 30-50 were pro, and 40% of 50+ were pro. Obviously the younger generation is more in favor of it than the older folks. I bet the same distribution happened during the fight over interracial marriage.
Some people feel it's wrong. It doesn't affect them, but they just don't think is right. They think "those people" shouldn't flaunt their behaviour and whatever they do between themselves is OK, but marriage shouldn't be extended to them.
Which "those people" am I referring to? Gay couples or interracial couples? Today the former. 40 years ago I bet those same words were uttered in opposition to the latter. Now I know you and I consider you my friend Trey, so I apologize if comes across like I'm trying to hit you below the belt, I'm really not, so I'll leave this argument here, ok - I'm just tryin to make a point.
But regarding gay marriage, can you explain to me why gay marriage shouldn't be allowed? WITHOUT any reference to the bible or morality, I mean. We all know there is a seperation of church and state, so religious arguments are irrelevant in the scope of creating laws. What exactly is the problem with it? The problems with NOT allowing it is that some people are being denied equal rights. Since when were amendments about limiting peoples rights? And since when did it become a federal issue? Whatever happened to 'states right'?
P.S. Tony, don't you need to go shave your ass or something?
Here is a story by CNN highlighting the rift between younger and older groups, which mentions 53% of 18-30 supporting gay marriage and something like 20% of the 50+ crowd in favor.
Now my point is that younger people are much more in favor of gay marriage than older folks. You say my statistics are suspect. I say you're full of shit.
