Buttonwillow today...
...Sat. report, I left at 5:30 am from north S.F.V. it was raining until I got over the Grapevine and it stopped. Got to BW at 7:15 and there was only a light mist. Track was pretty wet the first 2 sessions, I went out for a ride in my OTC co-driver's rented comp coupe the second session and it was quite a ride. The third session it was dry, but most of you don't know John Dearing (my co-driver) rented a Comp Coupe for at BW last year and got the dubious rep as to being the 1st one to crash a CC, he went off the south end of the track and I posted it as "he plowed the south 40", he really tore up the splitter.
Well in the 3rd session today he plowed the north 40, there musta been 50 lbs. of mud in the front end. No major damage but they had to take the whole front end off and pressure wash it off. The down side was the qualifying session was coming up for the race and it didn't look good for getting the car together in time. Well they got it together in enough time for him to run 2 laps (sound familiar BP) and gridded 8th. JoeB gridded 6th (I think).
Long and short of it is Dearing won the Comp Coupe class in the race and JoeB got 3rd. The last 2 sessions the weather was perfect. I met "Hogdealer" there seems like a real nice guy, I wish I coulda met more of you. Gonna crash soon I'm tired.
