Tito, this sounds stupid but I have met a girl on AIM by mistake over 2 years ago and she has become my best friend that I have never met. Here name is Sarah and she attends Virginia Tech. I have talked to her on the phone and we are best friends but like I said we have never met but have sent pictures of each other, she is pretty hot too. So no, I don't think its entirely a bad idea nor would it be hard if you really cared and trusted the person which comes a little harder these days but can be done since I know a guy who lives here in Austin and his fiance lives in Washington DC and they do very well together. I would love to meet Sarah one day though and it just could work out into something better, who knows. I say go for it if you are debating it.
I met really really really great guy who just happens to live halfway across the country from me.. LDR's make me nervous but I've never had one before so I don't know how I feel about them. I can't imagine they would work unless it was a short term distance problem. I dunno, I'm selfish and want someone I can cuddle on the couch with more often than not.
I lost my mind last night and was going though many internet dating services looking to see what I might find and I came across this Russian internet dating service and found some of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my life and I paid $50 for their names and addresses at 4:00 AM.
Yeah, I suffered through a long distance relationship once for two years. All I can say is, stay the fuck away. I have a strict policy about not having them anymore and have saved myself a hell of a lot of grief by stomping those flames out before they start.

Long distance relationships rarely work, especially for any duration. When I was single, I had a couple very long distance relationships. Stick to "geographically desireable" relationships so you can actually "be there for one another".

30 years ago I had a long distance relationship 150 miles away with a girl. Between seeing me every other weekend she became a born again Christian and thought it wouldn't be right for me to continue spending the night at her house. Our relationship ended pretty quickly after that.
Honestly, long distance relationships suck! 90% of the time they fail! No matter how hard the two people may want it to work, it usually doesn't. Believe me, I tried. People have needs! I need poon deliver hot in thirty minutes or less or it's free sometimes!

It was worse than that. Fuck, one spoon doesn't hold a candle to what I went through. Oh yeah, she turned born again too. WTF? She was hotter than hell though and we got along really well. She loved cars too. I remember when I was on a double date with her and my tire blew out. She wouldn't let me touch the wheel. She wanted to change teh tire. Funny as hell. I've had a similar thing but not that long of a distance, about 40 minutes in a car from the girl. She became a born again christian and that pretty much killed the relationship. She haven't had a relationship for the past 6 years now, and i wonder if her very "to the letter" relationship with god is actually making her happy. We are still good friends though.

The last time I saw her she had some of her Christian friends take me to their house to stay and they kept me up half the night trying to brainwash me (it didn't work because I don't got a brain) to make me a born again. I finally started to doze off and they kept wakingme up so I finally said I accepted Jesus Christ as my [img]/images/graemlins/bs[/img] and they finally left me alone so i could get some sleep. when I woke the next morning I went over to Jan's house and we saw each other for the last time. I felt like I was part of the original movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers and I was the last person not replaced by a pod.
Good and bad...first time around, didn't work out so well. 2 months in and splitsville.
Second time around many years later I had to do the long distance thing again, this time for about 6 months and for precisely the same reason your girl might be moving away for a bit - she had to go finish up degree #1 before moving back to Texas. Worked out just fine and I married the broad.
