Where is the best place to buy a German Shepherd Pup?
My girl is getting older. She is 11.5 and she is doing great. She is the quintisencial "Perfect Dog". I'm being serious. You couldn't ask for a better dog. We actually use her in CG Sar stuff and in classes. Because she swims so much she is still in good shape.
I would like to cloan her but don't know how. So I need to find one just like her. You can see her picture <---.
She is a smaller female. (No hip dysplasia) And mostley black.
My reasoning is that perhaps she could help train a new pup to act as she does. (Do you think this is accurate?)
I've heard that a puppy may extend her life. If so, than I am even more interested.
Anyone know of good breeders?

Is she fixed? I'm looking to mate my 10 year old male, he is pure and no hip problems, I keep him at a lean 95 lbs. That aside you can do a search on the AKC board where they have good breeders, I got mine in Santa Clarita at Leyborne Farms and he is great. Don't buy a dog from a mall shop, too many problems get one from a breeder.

If I was in the market for a German Shepherd, the first place I would look
would most likely be a German Shepherd breeder. 2nd place I would look
would be a car website, such as viperalley.com. In that order! :thumb:

My gal is not too far off from breeding her female. They come from champion lines, and I think her dad recently sold for about $20K. They are show dogs and they all have various degrees of Schtizen (Sp?) training.
As for your question about dogs learning traits from other dogs, I totally believe in this. We got a male German Shepherd as well as a pup, and it grew up with our neutered yellow lab. The yellow lab never lifts its leg to pee (a trait I was told dogs learn from each other.) The Male German shepherd (now 2 years old) also does not lift its leg (it is not neutered.) Can't keep the lab out of the pool -- guess what, the puppy German Shepherd saw this every day and now we can't keep the German Shepherd out of the pool, which turns into a nightmare because it has long hair and gets stinky after being wet (lab dries off in 5 mins and smells great.) Also gets ear infections since German Shepherds are not supposed to be water dogs, yet ours sticks its entire head under water to grab stuff off the bottom of the pool (just like our lab does.) Dogs are like people, they can learn traits from each other.

Red, you're looking at anywhere from $3500 to $10,000 for "the perfect shepherd". If you're serious, I can mix you in with the breeder I got mine from. If you're not going to do any of the Schutzhund stuff, search & rescue, K9 training, or show, then fire open the local paper and you'll get something that looks just the same.
Here's my lil gal, 14 months:

Smackie, Rebell says he wants to "plow" that, what beautiful pups they'd make, I wish I knew how to post a pic of my stud.
