With great sadness I am sorry to inform my fellow racers that our dear friend, and long time racer John Lingenfelter has passed away. He passed away the evening of December 25th. Arrangements are pending at this time and will be posted at a later date. John will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
I talked to his son in law a few months ago and he said they thought he was going to pull through. Being only 20 minutes from Decatur I wonder if the viewing is open to the public??
Well this makes my post-Christmas day pretty shitty. God, that sucks, I was really hoping to see him recover. We've lost one of the best in the tuner world.
Don, that hospital is going to be under one hellava investigation.
When it happened, I was under the impression it was unknown, by all parties, that he was allergic to the specific gas. I worked at a hospital, if you have no reason to believe anything adverse will happened, you operate as if they are not allergic, until proven otherwise.
wow... this is tough.. my condolences to the friends and family.. i think a viperalley flower arrangement or some sort gift for the family is in order.. i'll throw in some more money if need be..
Extremely depressing. He was the best at what he did. Damn dangerous business that car racing stuff.
Very true but it was not the wreck that killed him, it was the hospitals screw up that did.
What do you mean?
There are tons of stories on this Eric, but I tend to go with what this says. Someday the whole truth will come out. After all the lawyers get done woth all of this anyway.

Lingenfelter Performance press release from last year-
"On Friday, November 29, 2002, just over a month after his accident at Pomona, John was prepped in Indy for a second operation to repair his still damaged vertebrae. John was administered a drug prior to anesthesia. John had a reaction and went into cardiac arrest. The medical staff worked to reestablish his heart function, which they did. However, John entered into and remains in a "semi comatose state".
His physicians rate the prognosis to recover from his neck and spinal injuries as excellent. They say that the chances of recovery from his semi comatose state are extremely poor in the foreseeable future."
