Just some Info.
Hannuka is not a "High Holiday" (that would be Yom Kipper and Rosh Hashana.)
Of all the Regular(some Jewish groups have a few that are traditionally[not religiously] unique to them)Jewish holidays, Hanukka is the Least Important(for lack of a better term).
Hannukka Is also the only regular Jewish holiday that is not in the Hebrew bible(old testement) It is also the the only one that is based on provable, known, historical events.
It is known to the gentile world more than our other holidays, in that it is our only holiday that we celebrate publicly.(all others are a very private "Jews only" observance).
And if truth be known it is a holiday that lends itself to commercialization so it has been. Most jewish holidays don't contain any aspects that could be capitilized upon In a monetary sense.
Yes, I heard that on the news the other night. Hannuka isn't even a major jewish holiday. It celebrates a part of history where Jews reclaimed a temple or something like that. Very interesting.
