I was cruising up the I-5 earlier today when a 355 Spyder passed me doing about 80 MPH ..Talk about impressive handling , the car looked like it was on rails..Weaving in and out of traffic like an F1 .
You let a turd 355 walk you on I-5??? Only doing 80??? That is pathetic...Please turn your driver's license into the nearest ACME driving school and tell them you are not worthy of our nations highways and biways...
There are curves on the 5? Where? I had a 355 for a while, thing truly is a TURD. Slow is the only word that comes to mind. It is beautiful and hte engine sounds great, but other than that, a stock WRX will toast it.
Yes, Ferraris do handle that well. The F355 was a great car for what it was when it was introduced. The Viper can put up better numbers, but has its own trade-offs. Recognize both of them for what they are and check the myopia at the door.
Dig around on the morgue -- somebody posted some SRT-10 track videos quite awhile back, and he spends some time behind a 355 Challenge. (He also babbles endlessly about what a fantastic driver he is, probably because you'd never guess it from watching the videos -- ignore the text of the posts.) In the video you can really see how flat they are through the corners -- as you said, it's like they're on rails, but it's far more apparent under track conditions.
I probably learned more spending a couple minutes trying to stay anywhere close to a 360 Challenge on slicks at Sebring than I did in a whole weekend of racing school.
I've wanted a 355 F1 for a long time, but the Viper's bulletproof maintenance record has spoiled me, I think...
I have read that their chasis is so stiff that even if you jacked up the front left tire and back right tire, the doors will still close cleanly. Is that true? I don't know, but I did read that.
