A friend went to the new car show in Boston last week & took these pictures below. Although they aren't the greatest due to the lighting, the car still looks sexy as hell. I want one!!!!:thumb:
i'm still undecided about this car.. its a litte "too" retro for me, as for the most part is replicates the originals exterior styling to the T. Also, the $150k price tag is a bit much being that the technoligy involved in this car does not even come close to rivaling that of ferrari, yet it carries a ferrari price tag...
also, whats up with those tires? they look like the radials found on a KIA..
although, the 2005 mustang coupe looks pretty sweet.. it has just enough retro in it to keep it cool with out going overboard...
very nice car. But it wuold be impossible to pick between this and a 360 modena. The wheels have to go, and since it's supercharged, (think pulley, chip, and a good tune) that thing will easily and cheaply have an extra hundred horses.
I like it But way pricey. It will be be a major collector item as it can only be produced for a couple of years as the bumpers laws are now written (I am not saying this but read it somewhere probably SVT Mag).
I like it, but for $150K I would want a bit more performance for a FORD when I can get a FERRARI for that much coin. And why include a small block ford thats available on a 30K mustang and charge 5X that on a super-exotic? Time for ford to "PONY UP", and throw in a V12 from their aston line.

for once i agree with you.. you hit the nail on the head.. wow, a supercharged 4.6 liter.. just like the cobra.. just like the lightning..
sure the viper engine is now in the ram, but at least the viper isnt 5 times the price!
I'm going to try and curb my initial feelings for this car long enough to see it at the LA autoshow in january.. i dont know, maybe it just might give me a woody in person..
The only things I don't like about it is the lack of cubes and the price. I was at the Tampa Auto Show yesterday and looking at the Lambos and Ferraris and I got to wondering about the GT and the $150K tag. I love that GT but it's in some serious company and without the cubes...
Craig - they really should have gone this route, but make it rev - I've heard the GT 40 in person at full throttle and that it was the most beautiful, raw, perfect V-8 sound I've ever heard - bar none. It was JUST AWESOME.
I could be wrong, but I'm 90% sure it is a 5.4 Liter motor, not 4.6. And, it has a twin screw blower, different than the traditional roots type found on the Cobra/Lightning. Not to mention it has a dry sump oiling system, and probably many unique high tech. internal pieces found inside the motor. This motor is bad ass, trust me.... That being said, a N/A 600HP light weight big block would have been the ultimate. But this motor combo is a great choice as well.
Let's do a comparo:
360 Modena motor:
* Max HP 400 at 8500 RPMs
* Max Torque 276 at 4750 RPMs
* Service intervals frequent, every 15K if memory serves. Leaving with a bill for at least $5,000.
* Reliability - Questionable.
* Sound - incredible.
* Upgradable horsepower - very limited without mega-buck work.
Ford GT motor:
* Max HP 500 at 5500 RPMs (Guess)
* Max Torque 500 at 3500 RPMs (Guess)
* Service intervals - typical low-cost stuff and infrequent.
* Reliability - Great.
* Sound - incredible.
* Upgradable horsepower - More than likely, an extra 100HP for under a grand. Even more potential if you want to spend a little more and are not worried about the factory warrantee.
** I know which one I would pick. Why get caught up in 'what materials' or 'HP per liter' or 'well it's the same motor as the Lightning' or 'mine's high-tech' arguments? Bottom line: The stats don't lie. If you want to go fast, you pick the GT motor. If you want to say your motor has titanium connecting rods (or whatever), then pick the Ferrari. But when you get blown away in a street race, I don't think your going to tear the motor down to show the GT owner your titanium lightweight rods.

Who cares if it's the "same" enging as the Lightning or Mustang, 500 hp is still 500 hp, no matter what the power plant is. The original GT40's had a 289...just like the Mustang or Comet of that era. The 427's in the later models could be found in the Ford Fairlane.
Personally, the way I see it, Dodge has got a looooong way to go since they are getting *only* 500 hp out of 505 cu. in. compaired to other manufacturers.
