God Bless those who serve for our country in any capacity and who died or were injured so that way may enjoy the freedom we experience now. For those who are affected directly and indirectly.
God Bless them all.

I was shocked to see how many businesses in the US don't recognize Veterans day as a holiday. Today is rememberance day (it would have also been my Grandfathers 85th birthday today :bawling here in Canada, but the US has such a rich military history, and so many have died to protect US freedoms that I would have thought it was a more important day.
Sunday I took my Viper over to the Veteran's Home. It was organized by the PT Cruiser club. A few vettes came along, some mini coopers, and me and my Viper. We went around one of the wards and talked with some of the vets. I think it really made the day for some of them. The ones that could, dodged the rain and came out to the lot to look at the cars. The Viper was obviously the hit of the parking lot.
Our vets have given so much for all of us, we should be thanking them every chance we get. They also had a "wish list" of stuff the vets need there at the home. For instance, each wing of the ward has a sort of tv-area where the vets hang out all day. Most of the areas have big color tvs, but one of them had about 8 vets tryin to watch a little 20" tv set. The guy takin us around mentioned a bigger set was on their wish list.
Maybe it would be a good ViperAlley xmas thing to all pitch in and get them something.

Sad to say you are correct. I can remember when it was a day of mourning in the USA, but it changed somewhat after Korea and a drastically change after Vietnam. We were labeled bady killers, fought a unjust/illegal war, etc. Most Veterans had a tough enough time time trying to get past Vietnam without the shame others put on us unjustly. We served our country when asked, as others fled to Canada and hide in other places. When Regan gave these fuckers immunity, he ripped out the heart of every Vietnam Veteran.
I don't think that it is politically correct anymore to celebrate our great mititary history with victories over England, Japan, Germany, Italy, etc. and saving France, Poland, Hungary, etc. and forcing the freedom of India, countries in South America and Africa, who were colonies of others like France and England.
Anyway thank and hug a Veteran, because most of my fellow Veterans did not make it home or they are no longer with us.
