This is more of a rant, but this job market just stinks. I was trying to weigh my options but this move to Houston still seems like the best bet. I have friends in the Silicon Valley with 10+ years of experience with Yale MBA's that have been out of work for over a year now. Its a scary time.
Oh im not looking for a job. Im just making sure that Ive exhausted my options and the one I am taking is the best for me. My post was just noting how fucking horrible it is out there if someone was unemployed.
It does really suck for the unemployed, but corporate america isn't making the employed feel much better either. I have figured out you can't depend on the government or corporations for your livelihood or security anymore.
Get it while the gettins good and make sure you take care of numero uno.
Worldcon blasted my ass for several thousands and I feel Greenspan has overshot the whole deal and really put everyone in worse shape.
Job market is good in some areas such as healthcare but others are really bad.
The hay days of IT are over. Still some nice jobs out there but hard to find.
I see in the past few weeks a nice upswing in demand for skilled "blue collar" workers and telemarketing sales. This tells me companies are gearing up as demand is increasing.
