He said these transmissions are very strong but if there is a problem, the 1-2 gear synchro isn't terribly rare. The fix unfortunately requires them to replace some brass ring or something around the synchro so they have to remove the tranny and you have to buy an "overhaul" kit. Not sure how much those are but I was told it is about 8-10 hours of labor. I'm checking into the total price though

You can get an upgraded carbon fiber synchro kit for around $250. Also spring for the billet steel "chicklets" for the blocking rings.
