When we first came to the Viper world we did this on the first Viper we worked on and it made a lot of people have the same questions and concerns as you. There were a lot of people that said that it was going to blow up and that it would never make a pass down the track. We decided to take it to a Viper Nationals and the first four passes on street tires it put down 10.50's on regular stock tires every pass. Then we bolted up some CCW drag wheels with only 8" street slicks and on our 3rd run we ran a 9.75 @ 143 which set the Boost only blower record. It was faster than any other blower Viper with some even having built motors had done. From there that same Viper with a stock motor and heads won a Viper Nationals on ESPN and a second place finish at the next one. That car took an extreme beating and never skipped a beat! It also only had a Split second tuning box which now we use the AEM. I think we could run some 9.50s at least on good track conditions now with what we have learned. When the new owner bought that same Viper he wanted to do a TT and a stroker. When we pulled that STOCK engine down and inspected the short block look perfect!!!

The 901 SAE corrected power was on cool conditions with the Viper cooled off. IF it is heat soaked like any other car it could lose up to 10%.

Dyno's are not useless in my opinion but I agree with you on some of it and that's why you MUST make sure the tuner/builder of your choice has backed up his claims on the track!!!! If all Underground Racing has done was to be Dyno Queens I would see you having a point. Remember we have backed up these HP claims at the track over and over again.
