Been there, done that. It was hell, but years later, the best thing that ever happened.
If you can work it out peacefully (minimal lawyers), DO IT.
And advice I was given:
Keep as much as you can, you can always give more later.
Keep as much right to your kid(s) as possible. (They will become the only residual that matters from this.)
When you meet the 'right one' again, it usually works better the 2nd time around. (This is true.)
And, yes, the Viper is absolutely the best tonic for getting through the crap.
