The new cars are, I believe, 11:1 compression ratio compared to 9.5:1 in the old. That gives 15% more engine braking when you lift the throttle sharply. Add in the lighter touch needed for the fly by wire throttle and there was good reasons I was scared on the first day on the track by the car for the first time in years.
