The diploma and easily accessible public records should carry more weight than a $25 - $1000 fee paid to the government. Buying a license should be voluntary thereby requiring the government to actually have to do something to make their seal of approval worth a shit so that businesses would want to pay for a license and get something in return. The way the system currently is, it is just businesses protecting their industry not the government protecting the public.

I see being approved by a private entity more value than any government "ok, you can practice your business now."
