Hospital choice makes all the difference. I spent two weeks at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. They have been rated the #1 cardiac hospital for 12 years. I ended up in the emergency room of our local hospital a month later due to complications and could not believe the difference in quality of personnel and cleanliness of the facility. I would not send my pet to the local facility anymore.
Best of luck with your family. I think I had the easier part being operated on than my family had waiting to see if I came out alright.
