acids and base(s) are opposites on the pH scale so I agree it is stupid to try this but not for the reason you imply. They would cancel each other out causing a neutral pH number. This is of course assuming they were equally as strong pH of contradicting acids and bases. My chemistry professor would be proud I remembered such useless information to pass along to you boys and girls.
