I agree completely. Hot, sticky tires are going to throw gravel right through that coarse mesh and ding up your fins. Not to mention the first couple of really nasty muddy puddles you hit will clog them up and kill their thermal conductivity. I would not use anything larger than a 10 Mesh screen in that application. OTOH, I would never vent there in the first place. They call that a splash shield for a reason.
