I know most of you could care less about hockey but talking about bad draft years, a buddy of mine was drafted into the NHL in 1989.
These players were drafted ahead of him:

#2: Dave Chyzowski
#6: Adam Bennett
#8: Jason Herter
#12: Rob Pearson
#13: Lindsay Vallis
#15: Jason Soules
#17: Shayne Stevenson
#18: Jason Miller
#21: Steve Bancroft

None really accomplished anything.

On the other side of the coin, in that same draft was Niklas Lidstrom (#53 by Detroit), Sergei Fedorov (#74 by Detroit), and Pavel Bure (#113 by Vancouver).

I imagine the Islanders scouts that picked Dave Chyzowski #2 overall may want a mulligan on that one.
