He worked (AND I WILL SPELL THIS OUT FOR THE HATERS) doing engine management programming for the VM diesels that they use in London Taxi cabs and some of the new European Jeeps. In fact, we have one the diesels in our testing lab here at school and they let him borrow a Dodge Nitro concept car for the first week of school, which was kinda nice. Anyway, the SRT engine dynos that they did work on the new Viper engines with were in the same building as the VM diesels. He obviously bumped into the engineers from time to time and began to ask questions. All of the engines (something like 5 or 6) that were being tested made over 650 HP. They all used different intake designs, consequently, they made different power. As he became more friendly with the engineers, they told him more details, pretty much confirming an 8.4L V-10. Towards the end of his internship, he got a ride in one of the test mules. They had him up to 194 MPH in fifth gear at a reported half to 3/4 throttle. He reports that the engines did sound different than the standard V-10 in a good way (more Norm's Lingenfelter Viper-like) and that back to back rides with stock Vipers and Z06s showed the new car to be in a whole other league of performance. That is all I remember when I asked him about it 3 or 4 weeks ago.
