If you are looking at home defense your best bet is always a shot gun. Close range, loud bang, wide pattern and won't penetrate every room in your house if you miss.

But for a home defense handgun I've got the H&K USP 40 with the flashlight attachment. I've loaded it with the "buck shot" shells every third shot. This will give you a loud bang and wide pattern for the first shot while you aim and kill the fucker with your second and third.

I have many guns, and you made a great choice on the glock!
