Should I be the first one in the US to be documented with bird flu, you heard it here first. Was walking Navy Pier in Chicago with the family today and the clouds started getting a little darker. Felt a couple drops hit my hand and arm. Nope, not water or bird shit.
It was blood.
Not exactly a
Carrie moment, but still pretty freaky. I immediately thought I had somehow sprung a leak (getting older and not sure if that is part of it or not) but there was nothing. Wife and kiddies are freaking out a little as well. No tall buildings or anything above us - only sky. We figured it had to have been a bird, although I immediately looked up when the drops hit (even before I looked at the drops themselves) and don't remember seeing anything but clouds.
So, I went to the nearest bathroom and washed up and that was that. In all of my 43 years wandering around this planet I can safely say I have never had blood rain down on me. Glad to get that "first" out of the way and not necessarily looking for seconds. Still trying to figure out how a bird (assuming that was the case) would be bleeding and flying unless it was sick. So just in case I got a direct dose of something nasty, be sure to name it the Y2K5SRT Epidemic of '06.
